Ananya Birla is the Chairperson and Non-Executive Director of Svatantra Microfin Limited. She founded Svatantra with a vision to build an inclusion-focused NBFC that enables financial independence for underserved households and empowers grassroots entrepreneurs across India.

Under her leadership, Svatantra acquired Chaitanya India Fin Credit Private Limited, creating the second-largest NBFC-MFI in India by microfinance assets under management as of March 31, 2026. She also led the Company in securing an investment of INR 1,930 crore from Advent International and Multiples Private Equity, the largest private equity investment received by an NBFC-MFI in India, according to Tracxn (as of March 31, 2026).

Ananya's leadership has been widely recognised and her accolades include the ‘Young Business Leader of the Year’ award at the 16th AIMA Managing India Awards (2026), the ‘Kamala Rising Star’ Award (2022), the Society Achievers Award (2023), and ‘the Newsmaker of the Year’ award at the Financial Express–FICCI FLO Awards for Women Entrepreneurs (2024). She has also been featured among Fortune India's Most Powerful Women (2025), Fortune India's 40 Under 40 (2024 & 2025), Business Today's Most Powerful Women in Business (2025), and The Economic Times' 40 Under 40 (2024). She has also been invited to the Prime Minister's Champions of Change initiative and recognised by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for her contribution to women empowerment and self-reliance.
